After reading about a doula during my first pregnancy I was intrigued but had no idea where to start looking for one. Labor was pretty straightforward but when I became pregnant with my second I knew I wanted more from my birth. With a little online research I found a doula, met her and knew she would fill the missing piece from my last delivery. This time delivery was a little more complicated but my doula stayed by my side and supported me through each of my varying decisions, without judgment. When my daughter was born I thought maybe I could become a doula as well. I spoke with my psychology professor and she told me about Peggy Vincent’s book “Baby Catcher”, as soon as I read it I knew I belonged in birth work. I took my first training June 29th, 2012, attended my first birth July 6th, 2012 and have been assisting families since. I am constantly reading or taking classes to make sure I am up to date on evidenced based information on pregnancy, childbirth and infant care. Also, I am a certified postpartum doula and currently in training to become a Breastfeeding USA counselor. I look forward to assisting you and your family through pregnancy, childbirth and beyond.

During my pregnancy my husband and I recognized a need for extra support. We hired a doula to support us during the birth of our daughter. After her wonderful birth, I became engrossed in the world of childbirth. I knew that I wanted to assist other women in becoming educated about their birth options.
I've supported hundreds of families as a certified birth and postpartum doula in the Eastern Iowa area since becoming a doula in 2003. I continue to take classes to satisfy my appetite for learning about pregnancy and birth.
