Playgroups, Support Groups, & Fun Groups! |

|
Playgroups Open playgroups for birth-preschool age children (unless noted). A huge pile of toys and a bunch of kids, what else do we need? A great time for kids to practice social skills, and for parents to talk with other adults. No need to register. *Mondays, 4:00-5:00 pm *Tuesdays, 10:00-11:00 am. *Wednesdays, 10:00-11:00 am.
Motor Skills Playgroup Motor Skills Playgroup is held from October through May on Fridays from 10-11 am. Ages 0-3. This playgroup provides an opportunity for parent/child interaction while completing a wide variety of large and small motor skills activities, and the occasional take-home project. $2 per child, no registration necessary! You can prepay for several weeks at a time if you’d like, with our virtual punch card.
Summer Park Playdates Each month May-September, we choose a park at which to gather. This set time ensures that there will be other kids for yours to play with, other moms for you to converse with, and time to enjoy the great outdoors. We plan to meet on Fridays from about 10 am-noon. Most families pack a picnic lunch to enjoy before heading home for nap time. Parks for summer 2013 include: May—Bever Park, CR June— Thomas Park, Marion July—Tucker Park, Hiawatha August—Guthridge Park, Hiawatha September—Noelridge Park, CR
BB&B Book Group Our goal is to provide a group where we can discuss books of interest to local families. This summer we will be holding our discussion group during our Friday Park Playdates. We are planning to met from 10:30-11:30 while the kiddos are playing. Please join us even if you can’t make every meeting. Invite others who might be interested in discussing this book. The more participants, the more interesting the discussion! Also, please let us know if you would be interested in an evening book discussion! In May we will be discussing our first book 'Free -Range Kids' by Lenore Skanazy.
Breastfeeding Support Group/Breastfeeding USA Our breastfeeding support group is dedicated to providing education, information, support, and encouragement to women who want to breastfeed. All breastfeeding mothers and mothers-to-be interested in breastfeeding are welcome to attend our monthly meetings along with their babies and toddlers. Meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday evening of each month at 7 pm and the 4th Monday morning of each month at 10 am. Please plan to arrive a few minutes early to allow yourself time to get settled. For more information call Marjorie at 319-447-1499. FREE!
Parents of Multiples Support & Play Group (On hiatus for the time being. Please let us know if you are interested in seeing it started up again.) Please consider joining other parents of multiples to share coping skills and practical advice. We will discuss parenting choices of all types including a wide variety of choices such as breastfeeding, co-sleeping, organic feeding, and baby wearing. If this overlaps nap or lunch times, please note that you do not have to stay for the whole time, or you can come late. If your kiddos are in school or child care, you can still attend to get advice or share ideas of things that work for you. Siblings are welcome to attend. Expectant parents are encouraged to attend too! (On hiatus for the time being. Please let us know if you are interested in seeing it started up again.)
Sit & Stitch Craft Days Moms can cross stitch, crochet, knit, embroider, scrapbook, create, and have some time away. For crafter of any experience level. Held on select weekends throughout the year (check the calendar page for exact dates). (Nursing babies under 1 year, who are not mobile, are welcome.)
Mom & Me Craft Time Moms and their ‘older’ kids can spend time crafting together in our classroom space. Fashioned after our Sit & Stitch Craft Days, this short, condensed crafting time allows for creativity to blossom while making the time together special. ‘Older’ kid can be defined by the parent. Is your child old enough/interested enough in crafting to be able to attend this group for the 4 hours block of time? Craft time includes supper!
Our classroom is also available to rent so you can host your own crafting/scrapbooking day or personal event. |
